Securing A Job Interview With HIH Insurance – May 18, 1999

These days are beginning to gain momentum, my desires are flaming with passion and these dreams are again conceiving to stir.  There has been much ado and excitement in the past couple of days, and indeed in this month, where I have tried to keep myself busy.

To explain my thoughts and feelings properly would be nigh impossible because there is so much commotion up there, but to say that it is a new world is an understatement.  Nothing much has changed thus far but things are looking up in regards to my life of employment.

With all the nooks and crannies figured out about my financial budget and even in what duration my credit card will be paid off, I start the seminar now for chronology and leave all options open for musing.

Oh man, these tired eyes always forbid me to reach the hindmost of my chronology.  There is still today’s great adventure and fortuitous adventures that I need write about.  But as I noted, my eyes do grow tired and sleep does not need be deprived of me.  However there are two more points I may muster before these scriptures cease for another night.

Tula Provides Updated On HIH Insurance

Starting forthwith on my chronology for today, let us begin with my awakenings.

The time was 9am this morning when first I did receive my awaited call.

Tula again was the recipient on the other end, as she dealt me some information about the position with HIH Insurance.

Basically, Tula was going to speak with the boss at HIH Insurance in Sydney, in which she would call me back later in the day and arrange an interview for me.

Time endured, as I slept some more in my temperate waterbed.

Conference Call With Jana From HIH Insurance

At 10am the phone did again ring.  This time around Tula was again on the phone, but she had a little surprise for me.

“I have Jana on the phone from HIH. she just wants to speak to you for a second on call conference,” she asserted.

Being no skin off my back, I awaited in a small, anxious sweat for what I assumed would be a harsh-sounding lady.

Instead, when Jana did jump on the phone, all she asked was, “Will you be available for an interview today at 4:30pm?”

Agreeing to that time wholeheartedly, I finished off my conversation with Tula, and that was it.

Borrowing Money From My Parents

Taking a look at myself in the mirror as I jumped out of bed, I knew that I stood along the same obstacles that I had when last I received work.  My undercut had grown long.  I knew I had to get it shaved.  So now the only problem was borrowing money.

Heading upstairs with my fingers crossed, I knew that my parents would always come through for me, but I was a little hesitant when walking up the stairs.

When walking into the kitchen, I noticed my mum laying at the window, soaking some sun.  My dad, he was watching television.  Opening my hand to my mum and explaining the dilemma, she didn’t have any money.  However, as usual, dad came to save me.

Now I had the problem to only ask for ten dollars, which was two thirds of what I should have asked for.  Nevertheless, it was enough for a haircut.  With that money hopefully still dawdling in my credit card, I wanted to add another $5 to my account so that I could take out the lot the next day.  However, as I realized later in the day, the money had gone through the night before, so for money I was buggered.

Keith Helps Out

While dad handed me my money I made a call to Keith to see if he wanted to help me out for the day.  Explaining my little quandary, he decided to help me out.  With that, Keith was on his way to my house.

When Keith arrived at my house (I’m not sure of the time or duration but I think he dawdled), I put some clothes on.  Then we headed out.

Our first stop was at Campbelltown Mall where I thought to head to my usual hairdresser.  Jumping out of the car and heading through the mall, we perused for a little while.  Then we headed down to my hairdresser.

Seeking An Available Hairdresser

At first glance I could see that there were three ladies getting their hair done and only one hairdresser.  I figured it would take too long, so I headed back out to the car.

The way I figured, I needed $6 for my credit card, $2 for train fare, and the rest, which was $7 could be spent to get my haircut.

I also asked Keith if he could lend me five dollars so that I could use that for my credit card.  Although he didn’t have it on him, he was going to ask his mum, who was playing the pokies at the Golf Club.

Keith’s Accordia Turbo Receives Recognition

Heading back to Keith’s car, we noticed two kids around my age curiously peeking into his car from the window.

“Watch me scare them,” Keith boasted.

As he turned off his alarm, the car beeped twice.  Inevitably that made the two kids jump back and look around for a second or two until they noticed us.  From there, one of them noted that he also had an Accordia.  He said he wanted to make his car up just like Keith’s.

“You’re not selling any parts from this are you,” he queried.

But despite Keith’s knack for driving a hard bargain in his favor, he didn’t have anything to offer.

Jumping in the car, Keith gave the gas a little.  I knew he was only doing that to show off his Turbo and the low hum of his car to the two dudes.  Keith almost stalled the car on the way out because he had bought some bad petrol from a petrol station, in which it was causing the car to buckle under its revving.

Hairdressers In Macarthur Square

Macarthur Square was our next place to visit, as I thought I could definitely find a hairdresser up there.  On top of that, Keith had to meet up with his mum for lunch.

The time was around midday.  I knew that if I had any chance of making it to my interview with HIH Insurance, I had to leave for my house at 2pm, which was plenty of time.

The first thing on our agenda was to get my haircut, thinking that Ralf had such a treatment when he visited the hairdressers to the side of the middle of Macarthur Square and on the bottom.  Knowing that there was an array of beautiful girls working there, I pumped that thought into Keith’s mind.  We embarked upon our small journey.

When there I only noticed one lady.  Since the hairdresser wasn’t too busy today, I wasn’t too taken by it.

The lady was tall, Phoenix-type blonde and also had some of her features.  Just to get my undercut shaved off would cost me $10.  But since I had rocked up I decided to get it done regardless.

Being in her seat for only a couple of minutes as she shaved my undercut, I tried digressing my thoughts to her body as much as I could.  I had to keep entertained somehow.  There wasn’t much chit-chat between us.  When my hair was done, I paid and was on my way.

Fixated On Women 24/7

While we were at Macarthur Square, Keith told me that I look at girls 24/7.  Now I know he speaks the truth because I know myself that I never take my eyes off a beautiful girl if I am out and about.  True beauty before my eyes is different to a magazine picture of a movie with a naked girl.  Pragmatic beauty isn’t surreal.  There is no cure for my problem, but I do remember that with my own diagnosis I came up with a name for my phobia, the name I am uncertain of.  Despite that, we shall move onto our second point.

Watching Sandra Bullock Movie In Cinemas

Having half an hour to spare before Keith had to meet his mum at 1pm, we decided to head to the cinemas where we would sneak in and watch something.  Keith argued that it would be best to see something not yet seen, but I argued to watch a movie that we normally wouldn’t end up watching so we wouldn’t miss out on too much.  My vote won the day.

We headed into a movie of which I can’t remember the name but it had Sandra Bullock in it, something like ‘Accidental Occurrences’.

When stepping into the cinema I feel that the movie had been going for at least half an hour because we were into the thick of it.  The cinema was almost full.  Keith and I had to find seats on the side wall of the stairs, which wasn’t too bad a view.

While watching the movie and trying to begin our laughter midst the plot that everyone knew, Keith was called by his mum.  The call I didn’t hear, but I’m sure it was just to confirm that she will be meeting with Keith for lunch.

Planning To Meet With Keith’s Mom

When the time reached 1pm we jumped up and headed to the food-court where we were supposedly meeting with his mum.  However, he had a hunch that she would still be on the pokies gambling.

“She’s a bad gambler,” he noted.  “She never wins on the pokies because she bets stupid.  She only bets one line at a time instead of all possibilities.”

With this image in my mind, we looked around for her.  But after a little while, we walked into Harris Scarf.

Splashing On Cologne Samples

This would be a good time to mention that there was a great mixture of beautiful women and adoring women in Macarthur Square today.  They all got betrothing looks from me, but I also got a look or two from a bunch of them because I was wearing a bit better than I usually do, namely, my black Hound Dog shirt.

Anyway, being in Harris Scarf for a little while I sprayed on some cologne called ‘Chrome’.  This cologne smells beautiful and lasts an extremely long time.  Ages ago I got Keith hooked to this smell because I pointed it out.  He sprayed it on, and the rest is history.

Now, with this new job at hand, it is time for me to get me some ‘Chrome’ cologne, as ‘Cool Water’ is too shallow a scent that within half an hour, the fragrance has disappeared.

Finding Keith’s Mom On The Pokies

Knowing that Keith’s mum hadn’t turned up for lunch, we figured she was still intensely playing the pokies.  We headed up to the Golf Course up near Jett’s old house to check if she was there.

Whilst driving to the golf course we listened to ‘No Scrub’ from ‘TLC’, my newest groove and latest tune that I dig.  These thoughts of owning alternative music to what I normally listen to and heaps more CDs, it’s not too far off.

Reaching the car park of the Golf Course, we parked right next to his mum’s car, before we made our way into the complex.

Having the same sort of atmosphere as the Catholic Club, we noticed Keith’s mum on the pokies, mainly because she was the only one there.  Keith advised me beforehand how his mum spent most of her money on the pokies and she never won.

Making our way to her, Keith borrowed some money so that he could buy himself some food.  Out of that money he handed me the $5 that I needed for the transaction.

Keith’s mum had an aim to her playing the pokies.  There was a jackpot that was slowly creeping up to $500, and around that mark it went off.  The more money put into the pokies the more someone has a chance to win it.  Because Keith’s mum was the only one there, she stood the chance of winning the jackpot.  So she encouraged Keith to join in.

Whilst Keith was trying his hand, we found we were having a great effect to the machine.  Playing a couple of machines, Keith just kept winning on double ups.  By the end of the day he was $20 richer than what he had placed in the machine.  Gloating about his earnings to his mum, he tried to help her out with her game but she was too haughty in her bid to win.

In the end, Keith’s mum won the jackpot of $500 long before we left because she was still the only one there.

Making An Error With My Credit Card

With our day almost coming to an end, my departure for the city becoming more evident.  I had Keith travel to Macarthur Square again so I could deposit some money into my credit card.  However, after a quick check of total money in my account, I realized that the money had finally been taken out.  So placing the money in my account would be useless.  Therefore, if I was to start working for HIH Insurance at any time before the new week then I would be without money.  But thank my lucky stars, I start working on Monday.

On top of that, I’ve just heard news from Keith that he also begins work in the city.  What’s more, Keith is heading out to the city around the same time as myself.  He’s also jumping off at Wynyard station.  Eerie.

Changes Within The Group

Keith told me today that it feels like a new age has become of our group.  As much as I’d like to think that his own experiences are going to his head, he might be right.

As of late, Keith lost his girlfriend and his job.  I gained employment.  Then Keith gained employment soon after.  On top of that, Shawn is now looking like he will find work soon.  My weekends are looking more promising with myself obligated to a night at the Catholic Club with Bình, Tyler, Keith, Ralf, Shawn and the rest of them.

On Saturday Tyler wants to go see the soccer game with Manchester United, but they might end up watching it on television instead.  If so, I’ll be there.

On Saturday night I really wanted to head out to some nightclub so I could try out my new clothes, but we’ll just have to see.

So, I have seen a change in my circumstances and faith.  Keith might have seen differences in his life but to denote it to the whole group, it’s a bit selfish.

The Self-Centered Nature Of Keith

There is a formidable truth about Keith and his character.  The main flaw of Keith’s personality to my liking (or dislike) is that he always thinks about himself.  His perception that it is a new world for our group and that we have all finally come out of the shell is just ludicrous.  Indeed, it is a fresh new time for him because he feels like a burden has been lifted from his shoulders, but as for the rest of us, nothing’s changed.

Nevertheless, I think the breaking up with Tamsen hasn’t sunk into Keith yet.  He will start to feel lonely and desperate soon enough.  Already, it looks like he’s going to try and bounce into a go-nowhere relationship with Phoenix.  But we’ll have to wait with baited breath on what he eventually does.

Personally, I believe the nimble disowning of Tamsen as his girlfriend is a trademark of his repugnant nature.  He’s quick to forget about a relationship in which he lasted three and a half years, and so it seems, quicker to hit the scene furthermore.

Keith’s Problem With Jumping To Conclusions

Supplementary to that emotional problem, Keith has a bigger problem, or a problem equally prone to loathing.  Stemming off the problem that Keith only cares about himself or personal gain, he has a problem of jumping to a conclusion or naming names.

For an example of jumping to conclusions, today when I was on the phone and he called on call waiting, he blurted out, “Are you speaking to Lyssa are you” when I was speaking with ‘David Jones’.

For an example of naming names, Keith was saying to Bình, “You should hurry up and not dawdle with Phoenix otherwise Tony will go after her.”

This on any given day would place a cold silence between both contingencies.

But I just replied, “Anyone could get onto Phoenix if they wanted to.”

You see, saying something like “Someone else could go after her” instead of placing emphasis on a certain person would have been a better solution.  I’m not sure if Keith was saying my name for personal gain so that somehow he could have a chance at Phoenix, but I wouldn’t put it past him.
