Preparing For The HIH Insurance Job Interview

From Macarthur Square we headed to my house where I was dropped off at a forlorn population.  Dressing myself and pulling my hair back, I was fairly confident about the position with HIH Insurance that I was heading into the city for.  I was not anxious at all.

Keith arrived twenty minutes later with the intention to head down to Mission Employment himself.  Finishing up my dressing, we headed off.

The time was 2:30pm. With a bit of time to spare before leaving, I walked into Mission Employment with Keith.

Whilst in Mission Employment, he done nothing more than check a job or two out.  When the receptionist turned him away with the premise that she would fax his résumé, we headed back outside.

The time was still a bit early, but it was time for me to head to the train station.  Taking my résumé from Keith’s car, I thanked him for his help in the whole day, and then continued toward the station.

Once there, I was spun out by the building of the ticket machines in both exits.  I was more dismayed when the ticket machines didn’t sell concession tickets.  To me, that meant I had to jump onto the first available train to Glenfield, where tickets at concession prices always sell.

Bumping Into Valerie On The Train

Continuing with today’s chronology, I believe I am up to the point where I was jumping on a train to head to Glenfield.  If not, I have vital information that would benefit the descriptive and creative framework of these pages.

Jumping on a train that was headed straight to Glenfield so that I could purchase a concession ticket, I walked up the stairs of the train to find myself a comfortable seat for the ride.  Low and behold, who would be sitting on the first seat that I didn’t even notice, until she exposed herself to discomfiture to say hello.  It was Valerie.

Long before the tramp called Phoenix that I still associate with, Valerie got onto me (much like the Phoenix I know now).  However, the only differences between these two girls was that Phoenix (who used to live with Berenice) seduced me, as opposed to what I had done with Phoenix Spears.  Both of them were as sluttish and lacked as much class as the other.  Being around the same height and docility, they were more than not in the same class.

For a split second I thought to sit across from her so I could at least compliment her with some conversation.  But that thought quickly eluded my mind and I kept walking.  One of the more important reasons that I chose not to sit next to Valerie was that I wasn’t comfortable in sticking my neck out as she had done.

On top of that, besides thoughts about a month ago that included me and her getting together and getting it on (because I was going through my horny stage) I think she is as trashy as the opposing Phoenix.  However, in fairness, they are both equally sex driven still.  Because having sex with them would demoralize my morals, I keep them in open mind and that is all.

Besides, Phoenix jumped off at Leumeah.  To my guess, that’s where she lives now, so there wasn’t much lost in regards to humility.

Arriving at Glenfield, I purchased my ticket and then waited ten minutes for my train to finally arrive.  There weren’t any other cameo appearances on this train, but I kept myself amused and made sure to sit in the same carriage of at least one attractive lady.

Asking For Directions In Sydney

When finally reaching the city I was well on time, being 4pm and having until 4:30pm to arrive at my job interview.

Jumping off at Wynyard I was hopeful to just wander around in my errant fashion.  But after ten minutes elapsed I thought to take my questions to the public.  I had a fair idea of where Kent street might have been, but I thought it would be more fruitful to harass the lady walking a couple of steps behind me for some directions.

Having blonde hair, wearing a black work suit and being a fair distance higher than me, she was a perfect candidate for my ogling fascination of this wicked but fertile mind.  Being rather helpful with directions, I thanked her for her time and headed toward the direction that she pointed out.  It turns out that she had street-sense as well as beauty and a brain to boot, just what I like in today’s modern woman.

Do Something Everyday That Scares You

Heading down York Street and passing the other entrance of Wynyard Station I decided to ask a second girl for directions.  Also being blonde and dawdling a couple of steps behind me, she was also rather helpful in pointing me one street down in hopes that I would find my way.  This girl was more around my age, probably a year older.

I found it interesting when I thanked her for her time.  In those seconds that I was about to turn and carry on, she made it seem as if she was going to say something, start up conversation.  If I hadn’t turned around and probably fed on my intuition I probably would have realized she had something for me as I did for her, but I never did follow up, and we ended amiably.

Many times I wish I was more outgoing and took at least one risk everyday.  That song about wearing sunscreen has much truth when it says ‘Do something everyday that scares you’.  I just wish I could.  However, the life I have now is in a cage with my emotions tightly fisted when in the public eye, but when by myself or with my friends, that cage is obsolete.

I mean, I can speak to people I’m introduced to, such as people at work, but when it comes to meeting new people and breaking new ground by introducing myself to someone I like, I just don’t have the nerve.  However, patience I do have, but to uphold it for the rest of my life, I cannot.

Arriving To The HIH Insurance Building

Making my way to Kent Street and then slowly pacing myself to the front of the HIH Insurance building, I remembered the name of my interviewers and then pondered into the elevator.  There was no pre-stress or anxiety within me, but as usual, my palms were sweaty.  Despite these insufficiencies in poise, I headed up to the second floor.  I digressed from door to door to find where I had to knock.

After a couple of seconds I noticed another girl walking around, being my age.  Walking in front of her for a couple of steps I noticed a curious and drawn look in her eyes.  Therefore, I turned my attention to her and politely asked for David White and if she had known who I spoke of.

Without delay, she walked me down the hallway, where we occasionally held some small-talk amongst ourselves.

Walking through their office, I saw the staff in HIH Insurance were sectioned off by those removable partitions to make visible rooms with desks.  This all looked intriguing to me, and somewhere where I would enjoy working.

Introduction To HIH Insurance

The lovely host showed me to David White who was speaking to another employee.  After seeing me, he quietly finished his little conversation, then noted that Jana could show me to an office where I could get interviewed.

From the word go, as Jana jumped up to assist me she looked vulnerable and lacking nerve.

“You’re early, but that’s a good thing,” David White yelled out as I left with Jana.  His words boosted my confidence somewhat.

Tula at the temping agency told me not to get so worked up because they would be placid people.  I feel she was right.

Once moving, Jana trafficked me around the HIH Insurance office area, which was fairly large, then back outside, and then into a proper office from where we had began.

What I found interesting was how you had to have a special card that beeped the doors to get into the office where they worked.  Let me tell you, I wouldn’t mind working with that kind of security and accessory attached to my position.

Meeting The Head Solicitor David White

When the job interview began I was interested to find that both David White and Jana sat themselves in for the job interview.  Normally this would put a bit of stress on me, but I wasn’t anxious at all.  Rather, the only concern was that my hands would still be moist at the end of the day when I had to shake theirs.  Through our chatting I kept my hands firmly on my trouser-legs so they wouldn’t perspire so greatly.

From the word go in our conversations I was utterly confident about myself.  Why you may ask, I’m not too certain myself, but I feel my complacency and their placidity helped secure my confidence forthwith.

I guess what got me in a calm mood was how David began with in a relaxed way.

“So, you’re into music,” David quizzed.

Talking about something with confidence was a great way to start, as I mentioned my playing the piano for some odd years, the incident where I broke my finger (though I noted it was as a gridiron accident rather than a dry ice bomb accident) and how it has now been fixed up and in no way interfering with my typing.  The hard questions that I usually got stumped on were all eradicated as I will soon point out.

David asked me, “Where do you see yourself going in the future?”

I remembered what Keith had said earlier in the day at Mission Employment and replied.

“Well, I’m at the stage where I don’t really know what I want to do, to tell you the truth, but I know it has to do with computers, definitely.”

Then there was the usually hard question of, “What kind of work have you done recently?”

I confidently spoke of recent affiliations with temping agencies but didn’t go as far as to detail what I had done.  All these thoughts have stuck in my head about the right thing to say.  Over time, it has led to today’s job interview, which finally had seen me snatch a victory.

Personality Differences Between David And Jana

The majority of the conversation was directly with David White who looked more the superior over Jana.  But he did allow her to explain some segments and details of my job requirements.  In all other cases, Jana was more or less just agreeing with David when he spoke of the company.  I don’t want to degrade her to lessen her presence but I feel she was intentionally keeping herself quiet because that is her character.

For some reason I felt that Jana was showing less confidence than myself, but I guess I’ll find how confident she is in the workplace as time progresses for me and the company.

Getting Noticed In A Job Interview

I believe success started to arrive upon my feet as I transcended into another chapter of grace from my life.

I truly believe that you have more chance to land a position if you can have the employer remember you in some way.

Some people decide to wear trashy lipstick, short skirts or approach the conversation in different and unique ways.  Although I wasn’t conventional in my dress sense and I wore an open collar which made it look as if sex appeal was my game, I feel that my conversation and opening up helped make me remembered.

Opening Up About My Life

The difference in our job interview came when we started talking about my hobbies and my personal life related to work.  I’m not sure how we arose at those topics but we talked about my memoirs, my bodybuilding achievements, gridiron, my typing ability and how it all began for me.  Mostly, I impressed them with statistics regarding my diary and how I have been typing consistently every given day (respectfully) for the last three years and a half.

“That’s how you got so good at typing” he commented.

As I agreed, I finally noticed that I finally made a link between my typing ability and how it has continually progressed.  What’s more, I had the interviewer comprehend.

There was the little idiosyncrasy of how I would prefer to call these pages much more than the feeble word he used, a diary.

“Nope, Diaries remind me of kids in high school talking about their first loves, I would tend to think this as a gathering of chronology, philosophy, poetry and scientific study all in one daily package,” I summarized.

That seemed to interest the both of them, as David noted “So, when you go home, you’ll write about the whole day and about how we’re both harsh fools?”

We all burst out laughing.

Recounting The History Of The Diary Of A Mad Chaos

Description of my writing Sonnets and poetry within my diary soon stemmed from my chats.  Then I began to explain how it all started three and a half years ago.

To repeat in these pages, the Diary of a Mad Chaos all began because I wanted to keep a track of my bodybuilding records so that I could look back upon it and see what I was doing wrong.  Each day it progressed from writing a page or two of chronology and philosophy to a couple more lines.  Through the years it has increased tenfold.

When I uttered “In fifteen years of writing in my diary I would have filled out enough information to fill a whole encyclopedia,” they both sat back in their chairs and looked awed at the prospect of so much work and yet, to call it a hobby.

“So are you looking to make this a book in the future,” David uttered.

I nodded my head.

He added, “Well maybe in ten years time we’ll read your book and say, hey that’s us!”

The HIH Insurance Job Explained

The job interview for HIH Insurance was so trans-lucid that each transition into another topic seemed so smooth an adjustment of atonement.  When the personality side was chiseled out the job was then explained, what my tasks would be and the chance for promotion.

Basically as he commented, there are about six things that I have to do everyday, including filing, opening mail, sending mail at the end of the day, typing up letters, and general administrative tasks.  Taking a look at my area where I would work I was quite comfortable with the idea but wasn’t too sure if a desk was involved with my position.

David spoke of how there was either the possibility of moving to a Claims Officer for Workers Compensation or to the other end of the office as a Legal Secretary.

“You know, most people would have some bias to a man being a secretary, but I really feel like I could do a good job there,” I explained to David, deciding not to leave a blank to his proposition of promotion in the future.

David casually asked, “Are you planning to stay with the company for a while?”

Eagerly, I agreed in a positive accruement.

David looked at Jana and noted, “Well, he seems fine with me.  What about you?”

Jana acting as the despondent naturalist replied with a nod and agreement.

Everything was looking promising from then.

HIH Insurance Salary Expectations

Progression led to chatting about money, in which he asked me what I used to get paid.

Working my way up from lowest to highest payment, he worked out that I would be getting around $18,000AUD per annum working for HIH Insurance.

Adding the payment up loosely in my mind just under $300 after tax didn’t sound bad at all.

Being Asked To Wear A Tie

Wrapping up our job interview after forty five minutes of light-hearted discussion, we ended on the matter of dress-sense.  Deciding not to be too austere and sticking more with his placid temperament, he thought long and hard about my look, and then decided to note that it would be better if I had worn a tie.  Basically, in no direct way he noted how everyone else in the company wore a tie to work, so I decided not to even think about arguing to his gesture.

Therefore, tomorrow when I head to the city I will most probably be looking for work pants, a shirt and if any money is left, a tie.

The word style, I like it a lot and with this new means to a means, I will be more flamboyant in my personal appearance.  With new suits, stylish shoes and clothes from the more vogue stores, I will hoist and uphold my new look.  Fresh with new clothes, a new haircut, highlights, contact lenses and a ripped body by the year 2000.  Yep, I will take pride in the word ‘Style’ as I will, of it all be produced.
