The Events That Led To The Breakup – Mad Chaos: December 24, 1997

Tonight and today I was on the verge of something big that I haven’t placed someone through before.  It’s now just past Tuesday, but earlier on Monday I broke up with Lyssa.  I guess it was just a build-up of hate that I kept within me and always told myself, “It’s not enough to break up over.  I’ll just remember it.”

Hand-Deliver Present To Lyssa

Lyssa and I had an argument from on Monday the night before.  I woke up early Tuesday morning for my interview in Sydney.  Packing Lyssa’s present I knew that it would answer plenty of questions.

Catching a bus to Campbelltown I caught the train and then walked to Lyssa’s house.  As I rang the doorbell, Lyssa answered, shrieked and then quickly ran back in her room to lay in bed.  Lyssa’s mum and brother were still home.  Lyssa didn’t notice the present that I placed in her room on the floor.  The present was in a large box.  I laced the present with some red and green lacing.

After 15 minutes Lyssa’s mum and brother drove out.  I had something to eat.

When I got up I said to Lyssa, “Where do you want your Christmas present, under the Christmas Tree?”

Lyssa didn’t believe me but I’d bought her something for Christmas.  As I ate, I was late for my train so I said bye and left.

Walking up the street, Lyssa was busy unwrapping her present.  I was going to call her to see if she liked my present but I left my phone at her house.  Walking back, I heard her shriek once more seeing me come up the stairs.  As I let myself in, she ran and hid in her mum’s room.

Picking up my phone I saw her laying on her mum’s bed trying to hide the skirt I’d just given to her.  She was too embarrassed to move but loved my present that I’d given.  Walking back out I caught my train.

QBE Insurance Interview In Sydney

I was late to Sydney by about 15 minutes.  Walking onto the 6th floor I noticed that you needed a security code to get in.  Ringing reception, my interviewer walked to the door.  I shook his hand.  As he greeted me, he escorted me to the interviewing room.

The interview started with him reviewing my full résumé.  As he took some copies, I explained to him in full detail my working background and personal background.  The interviewer sounded very intrigued by me.  We talked about several topics relating to the job for over an hour.  The interviewer even copied all my work examples in my financial agenda and the charts of my sound system.  He was very impressed at my ability to answer all questions in full and with meaning.

As the interview was wrapping up I shook his hand and then caught the elevator to the ground floor.  The job is for QBE Insurance and there are plenty of benefits for working there.  Part of the benefits would be that I could get home insurance for half price and other benefits with nice discounts ranging to personal loans.  This job would be a step up, but I would be out of practice for most of the procedure they would put me through.

Stepping onto Pitt Street, Lyssa called my phone.  I told her how the interview went.  Lyssa asked me over her house after I was finished.  I told her I’d be there in an hour or more.

Stopping at Town Hall, I must have circled the place 20 times looking for something to eat and looking at all the pretty faces.

Visit Lyssa At Her House

Coming back from the City on Tuesday I walked in the heat up to Lyssa’s house, also in my suit.  When I arrived it was all hugs and kisses.  I just sat there and relaxed as we both watched television.  Lyssa was appreciative of my gift, so that made me happy.

Lyssa told me she had to leave the house around 4:30pm.  I told her I might get Ali to give me a lift at that time.

As she got dressed and ready I sat watching television in the living room.  Not realizing it, 4:15pm came.  Lyssa came out and told me we only have two minutes to catch the bus and she asked her mum for bus money.

Lyssa walked me out of the house in a hurry.  I realized I wouldn’t have any money for the bus.  Asking Lyssa if she had any money also for me she showed me she only had enough for her.  Lyssa’s on her period starting today, so you could imagine what she would be like.

Lyssa was angry and walked around like I was a hassle not having money.  She quickly tried to ask her mum if she could have more money.  Regardless of that, the bus would have left.

The Huge Bus Mix-Up

I thought Lyssa told me to wait, so I stood near the corner of her closest cross street on looking the bus to stop and see if we would miss it.  While there Holly walked down the street.  I thought I would be nice and say hello.  Walking up a couple of steps I greeted her and asked her about the flowers in her hands and how she was, simple questions.

Walking her to her house I noticed Lyssa wasn’t back yet, so I walked in her house.  I thought that Lyssa told me to wait at the bus stop so that’s what I done, but I waited on her street corner so I could see her come out, apart from when I walked to Holly for a second.

Saying goodbye to Holly I walked back into Lyssa’s house.  It was almost empty as I walked around looking for her.  The phone rang.  Because I thought I was the only one there I picked up.  Carleigh was on the phone for Kuper and Lyssa’s mum came to talk.  Walking around, I got the idea that Lyssa wasn’t here and probably walking to the station.

After Lyssa’s mum was off the phone I asked her if Lyssa was around.  She told me they had a fight about money, she used some bad language, and then walked away in a storm.  That made me feel bad to have been in the house without Lyssa and to know she had a fight with her mum on my behalf.

Hurriedly Catching Up To Lyssa

Walking out I started to walk to the station to look for Lyssa.  Halfway down I noticed her about 200 meters in front of me.  She would look back on occasion.  I guess she didn’t see me.  I was furious, so I walked as fast as I could to catch up and get some answers.  As I was catching up she looked back, noticed me and stopped.

When I reached her presence I couldn’t speak I was so angry.

“Where were you,” she asked.

“I was waiting where you told me to,” I said.

Her story was that she asked her mum for money.  Then when she got angry she came outside to look for me, couldn’t find me, yelled out my name and then darted down the road because she thought I was already walking.  She walked as fast as she could because she thought I took off on her.

Lyssa Tells Me The Relationship Is Over

While Lyssa and I were walking to the station I was asking more questions and told her my feelings when I was at her house by myself.  Lyssa did something stupid in our argument and stormed in front of me like she was trying to lose me.

“Why are you walking so fast,” I asked her.

Then I slowed down so I wouldn’t be walking with her.  I didn’t want to try.

She looked back, stuck her finger up and then told me, “It’s over.”

As I kept walking we were close to the station.  Penelope was there calling out Lyssa’s name.  Feeling real bad because I was steps behind Lyssa, I turned back and walked away trying to hide from Penelope and Lyssa.

Feeling Ashamed By Lyssa

So pissed off I was that I waited until the first train came.  They didn’t catch it and sat down on the steps at the train station waiting for me.  I walked to the bus stops and just waited there.  I didn’t want to talk to Lyssa in front of Penelope, and if she wanted to she could walk to me.  The next train came.  I thought Penelope had seen me but I guess she didn’t.  They jumped onto the train.  Then I caught the next available train to Campbelltown.

Reaching Campbelltown I saw this idiot that I knew from Campbelltown.  He was smoking pot freely and smelt like shit.  Trying to get rid of him I told him I’m going to Macarthur Square.  He told me that’s where he’s going.  We sat down to catch a train, even though I was going home.

Luckily Jett was around.  I said hello to Mikaere before he left.  Jett came and sat with us.  Then we got up and walked away from pothead for a reason.  Saying goodbye to Jett and having a talk with him, he told me he had a new girlfriend from work.

The Girl At The Bus Stop

Walking to Campbelltown I waited around because I didn’t want to walk home.  Walking to the bus stop at the front of Pizza Hut there was a real pretty girl there that I stopped in front of while she was sitting down.  Seeing Ali just drive around the corner I ran so I could catch him, but he was gone.

Walking back to the bus stop the girl was still there, which I wanted to talk to but didn’t.

Dina was walking down, so I told her if she saw Ali to pick me up from where I was.  Ten minutes later he came and picked me up and drove me to my house.

Lyssa Calls In Tears

Lyssa just called me again (maybe the sixth time tonight) crying.  We’ve just been talking for an hour.  I’m so tired I can’t write anymore.  I just want to rest my mind and sleep it over, see how I feel about Lyssa in the morning.

One thing I know, I broke the relationship off big with Lyssa, but in my mind and heart I know that I can’t let her go and we will be back together, despite what I say to her and how much I’ve made her cry and believe we were apart.
