Landing An Interview With HIH Insurance – Monday, May 17, 1999

My bids to find a job might finally have come to an awarding end.  With it, my perception of Temping Agencies being uncaring has changed over the past few months to a more friendly and helping team.  However, I must admit, if it wasn’t for a person’s solo persistence then the Temping Agencies wouldn’t see that desire, and therefore, move on to more apt people.  

Today while I was out roaming the town and signing my life away to ‘Work For The Dole’, the prayer in my mind went aided.  Despite the Work For The Dole project trying to find me work in Campbelltown council, which would have been good, I have been more inclined to accept the offer just dealt to me a couple of minutes ago.  

When arriving home I got news that I had received a call at 4pm by Tula.  Remembering that she was from Dianne Gerard Temping Agency I gave that number a call hoping she was still available at 5:30pm.  To my luck, she was still at work, waiting patiently for me to give her a call that afternoon.  How nice.  

Within our conversation she told me about a job that she had lined up for me, which required someone ASAP.  Tula from Diane Gerrard Personnel found me a job in an insurance company based in the city.  Being the sort of position I was looking for, she explained a bit about the company, HIH Insurance.

From what I’ve heard thus far, HIH Insurance is one of the largest insurance companies in Sydney.  

HIH Insurance are looking for a General Administration Assistant that also creates Secretarial work as well as Word Processing.  

Tula faxed my résumé away to HIH Insurance.  It so appealed to them that they wanted to have an interview with me.  However, because it was so late in the day, Tula told me she would call me very early on Tuesday morning to confirm the interview with HIH.  From there I will head to meet the employer for an interview in which, as being the lone participant, I should get the job.

Tula, oh Tula, what an adorning name that indeed.  Her name so have I heard these past few days, to reconcile my prospects for work, and how wondrous a job she hath done.  

Despite my wanting a casual job, Diane Gerrard Personnel have handed me this full time job on a platter, with much room for promotion.  

Wouldn’t it be funny if HIH Insurance was the same company with its own building that I tried to get a job from a year or two back, with their own security lock doors.  

Using Flattery In Negotiations

There is one major bonus I have learnt with my crusades for finding work.  When it comes to finding a job, it doesn’t hurt to use flattery on occasion.  As I have found within its sudden use these past few weeks, flattery indeed works.  Nevertheless, of all the people I talk to, 90% of them are ladies, so it isn’t so hard to squeeze in an odd word of compliment to make them laugh and bring out my character.  

Also, when it comes to Temping Agencies I have learnt that if you don’t get dealt a job within the first few weeks it will nigh be impossible.  This is due to there being a certain job available on the day I arrive for my interview.  So because I am fresh in their minds, they will think, “Hey wait a minute.  He’s perfect for the job,” and give the job to me straight away.  I guess I’m lucky and smart to have included so much talents into their decisive thoughts, as it gave me more chances of open doors, and ultimately has led to this opportunity with a big firm in the city.  

I know that I only have one or two work suits to wear for a new job in the city, but I’m not self-conscious or too embarrassed about it.  Despite my probably having to work a full week, I am happy with the company I am heading to.

The fact that I will be working in the city coupled with the immense size of the company HIH Insurance, means that it will be easy to make friends.  Easy to make friends, especially if I flatter the women, as I do now.

Living On The Breadline

Before I move off this topic, I feel there is a tinge of déjà vu in the air regarding wealth.  

The same situation has arisen where there is only a couple of days until I get paid, yet I don’t have any money left to get a haircut or to pay for a train fare.  

However, just like last time, Keith is broke because he hasn’t got a job anymore.  Shawn – along with the rest of them – are also currency-free.  That leaves the option of Lyssa and my parents.  As we should all understand by now, Lyssa is tight with money.  

I don’t want to repeat the same situation of Lyssa feeling inclined to demand her money back just to reap the reward of dominance.  By personal choice, I don’t want to associate myself with her any more than I have to at this particular point.  Therefore, I am left with the obvious answer, borrowing money off my parents.  

However, as $45 still hasn’t gone through my bank account and it is still looming in there for my expenditure, I might have to add the $5 that I have left so that I can take it all out and spend it willingly and appropriately.  With this money, I will have enough to spend on a train ticket, eating money, the lot.  

When my money comes through on Monday I will be able to buy myself some clothes for work.  When I get paid from this job (If I do indeed get it), then I will buy some more clothes for work and for going out.  With a full time job, finally, I will be able to buy my laptop, a new home computer, software, fix my bike, head to the gym, and all the other wishes that I wish upon myself, finally.

Growing To Like Pop Music

Well, well, well, I am running out of time and have to get myself to sleep now.  As you would have figured by now, I have allowed time to drag on.  For the rest of the night I had something to eat, a shower, and watched the ‘World Music Awards’ throughout.  

Let me speak of some newly gathered thoughts.  Just having watched the ‘World Music Awards’ on television I was inspired by many things.  For one, I thought to expand the types of music I purchase.  Instead of mainstream black R & B as well as a phased out rap, I thought it would be good to buy titles like ‘Britney Spears’ and ‘Ricky Martin’.  However, I was more inclined to see Ricky Martin at one of his concerts if ever I had the chance.  

I know that Ricky Martin is not my idol, and that Lyssa along with other women fantasize over him, but I see a caliber of mettle within him that I can associate with.  For that, seeing him live would be a benefit to myself.  

Not only do I want to get into the world of concerts but I want to see operas and stage plays of Shakespeare.  The arts, literature and music have really taken me to an effect that is staggering.  I really believe that the creative aspect of me will carry me forth and bring me to greater heights.  

Aspiring To Be A Professional Dancer

For a while now I have wanted to become a professional dancer in respect to being included in video clips to do routines.  I don’t want to practice upon a specific genre of dancing, but rather on the aspect of dancing in set routines.  This has always been in my blood for as long as I’ve been avoiding the dancefloor.  

The curiosity of my knowing that I could dance when once on the floor, coupled with my passion and love of dancing has led me to contemplate dance classes.  It might just be a thought that doesn’t go anywhere for a while, but right now, I can envision me working a full-time job, studying night courses, and dancing on the weekends.  Yes, it is a full life and one without much free time but with much benefits.  But hey, I feel that it would still be free time when occupying myself with hobbies and things I love doing.  So, go figure.

The Decline Since The Lost Years

The flares of my life have gone up.  Now a twitch of things to come is enthralling my expectancy.  There have been many ups and downs in my life.  In the last two months (as well as the last two years since the decline within the lost years) it has mostly all been down.  However, I am at a crossroad where I can again take a stand, pick myself up, and take the right path to victory.  

This is my chance to increase my complacency in life and not lead it down another hill, where fortitude is befallen by procrastination.  The little things now excite me as well as the possibility of big undergoing.  All I have to do is follow the right road.

DALE-E Cream Plug

On the point of little things going right for me, this Vitamin E cream, although not working wonders on my stretch marks, is a great alternative to getting rid of pimples.  Just like foundation for women (I think it actually is foundation in a way) I spread a thin layer of DALE-E Cream on my face.  Then within half an hour I see a dramatic improvement.  Therefore, where I see blemishes or scars from pimples I do use the cream, and it does always work.  

Two nights ago you could see craters of popped pimples on my face.  Although there were only a couple, they did blemish my face and pride.  Since using this cream, the pimple craters have disappeared, and my satisfaction and content have reappeared.

Preparing To Sleep

The time could be unpredictable to you, but to me it is 12:15am, which signifies bedtime.  My hopes are high to the fact that I was the only one contending for the position with HIH Insurance.  As the time is just past midnight, I will prepare myself for the early sleep needed tonight.

So there you have it, another day, another night of scripture, and a remembrance of chronology throughout my life and throughout my dreams.  I truly shall live these next few hours of slumber.  When I awake, I will have much to talk of, much more.
