The Vertical Platform section

After nearly two weeks away from new features (the last build was May 13’s Timer Mode), tonight’s session merged an idea of mine with one of Lance’s into a new vertical section: climbing up a mountain, the roof collapses overhead, and you’re forced through a “cabin hole”; a tight vertical passage with its own hazards.

Inside it: a vine to swing over rocks or lava, a seesaw you can push down over lava to launch yourself up (timed right, you jump clear at the top), and a lava wall that bursts up through the cabin door and sweeps horizontally across the screen; a new way to die.

The mine train power-up

A new power-up: press it, and you’re instantly thrown into a mine train that pushes you four or five sections forward, fully invincible for the ride, then pops you back out running. The vertical section runs for about 100 platforms before folding back into standard Climber mode.

“That’s what I’m building now in Floor Is Lava. Then I’ll touch on Lance’s version of this and see what we can do.”
