Once I had dropped my kid off with his grandparents at 12:45pm this afternoon, I pressed the ‘Dash Now’ button on the DoorDash app and headed off on food deliveries.
DoorDash Pays To Drive
I happened to be driving from Bradbury back home to Minto when I was offered to deliver a food order from McDonald’s. I earned money for dropping Lincoln off at Bradbury. It was easy money.
I managed to complete a second delivery from McDonald’s. Two deliveries were completed within 42 minutes, which earned me $16.18. I was earning $2 peak pay as extra on top of $6.09 base pay per delivery. Those were two good deliveries.
The time was 1:30pm when I finished my DoorDash deliveries. I wanted to keep working, but the DoorDash app noted that it was not so busy in the area and to reschedule for some time later.
I tried to reschedule for 2pm, but figured no, I want to get home and get some work on the diary done. So I canceled that scheduled time through the DoorDash app. I got back home by 2:30pm.
Restaurant Food Delivery
From 5:20pm I came on my second DoorDash run for the day. This food delivery run was quite good for me. Starting in Minto, I drove a few hundred meters down the street towards the fast food precinct next to Minto mall, including McDonald’s, Hungry Jacks, Oporto, Pizza Hut and KFC.
Then I got my first order through the Door Dash app. It was from the Manee Thai Cuisine restaurant in Minto mall. I picked that food order up and drove it to the top of Minto heights one kilometer away. That was super convenient! I got paid to drive.
Long Wait Times In KFC
When I finished that food delivery, I drove towards Leumeah. Along the way I got another order for $10 at KFC Campbelltown. This food order was interesting.
When I popped into the main customer entrance at KFC Campbelltown and approached the counter, I was told, “Food delivery drivers have to come in through the side door for delivery drivers.”
As I did that, I was the only delivery driver inside.
Soon, three other male food delivery drivers in quick succession also came through the side entrance.
One delivery driver was with Menulog. He was an old, dark-skinned male in his 60s from one of the countries of the Indian sub-continent.
There was an Australian Caucasian guy with curly, long black hair, with some hair dyed blue and purple.
There was a third dark-skinned guy who looked to come from the Indian sub-continent somewhere. I noticed that the drivers in the food delivery business in Australia are made up of many different ethnicities. It brought a smile to my face.
I showed the DoorDash food order on my mobile phone touch screen to the KFC staff member. Then I had to wait for KFC Campbelltown kitchen staff to make the food and pack the order.
I think KFC Campbelltown is an intensely busy KFC. There are dozens of cars lined up at the drive thru, dozens of people lined up at the counter. I hope that they can get our delivery orders done quickly as well.
I’ll probably never come to KFC Campbelltown again because it takes 10 minutes just to wait for the food to get made.
The time was 6:40pm when I finished my DoorDash run, spending 1 hour and 19 minutes to earn a total of $25.38 for three deliveries. Then I drove back to Bradbury to pick Lincoln up from my parents’ house.
