The Write & Forget Diary

Whoops, I was clueless there for a couple of seconds because my mind was lost.  Knowing the day just passed over to Friday I went back in my Diary and was shocked to find what I thought was a lost date.

Jumping back in my Diary entries I could only find the entry for Tuesday and was totally confused.  Trying to figure out where I lost the day or if I got one of the dates wrong, I sat there for ten minutes scratching my head.  Finally, I found the lost entry, well it wasn’t lost but I just didn’t notice it.

Once I’ve written an entry though it’s lost from my mind.  I couldn’t remember what happened yesterday because it was all in my Diary and out of my head.

Late Preparation To Head Out

Now starting with my day. The time was 11am when I first opened my eyes.  Realizing that I needed more sleep than what I had planned, I set the clock forward.  When the time arrived to midday the alarm went off.  Still tired, I was contemplating rest.  Alas, I had seven hours of sleep and a day ahead of me.  I had to wake up.

Jumping into the shower, that woke me up.  After drying myself, I walked upstairs to grab something to eat.  This is when I realized that mum and dad were going out to Campbelltown to buy a Pizza.  This could be my lift there.

With fifteen minutes to get ready, I walked downstairs with my half-cold pie and started getting dressed, fixing my hair and eating.

In this time I called a couple of places to see if I could have my CDs printed somewhere else.  Calling some numbers from the ‘Drum Media’, I finally sought my old contact at ‘CD ROM Services’.  As you would know it, they had an inkjet printer that could do the job for me.  I was happy.

Train Trip To North Sydney

Dad had started the car by this time.  So not wanting to be too late I packed all the essentials for the day and then headed for the car.  Dropped off where the new Dolmio’s Pizza is just near McDonald’s, I walked my way to the train station.  Being no concession from the ticket machines I caught the train to Leumeah.

Buying myself a ticket at Leumeah I only had a certain amount of money to spend.  Jumping onto a train via Leumeah I thought I should visit North Sydney first so I could have my CD printed.

The train trip to the City was tranquil in a sense, but loud enough to be abrupt to my thoughts.  Jumping off at Central, I was a bit confused as to what platform I had to stand on.  After checking three or four platforms, I realized I was on the right one in the first place.  With plenty of time to spare I jumped on and entered North Sydney at 3pm.

Printing Artwork In North Sydney

My walk towards ‘CD ROM Services’ was not too strenuous, as I knew where it was now.  Reaching my destination, I was greeted by the man who was on the phone earlier.  I noticed that nothing had changed in this dump except for the workers and awards.

The guy I talked to on the phone informed me that it was his lunch time now.  So I left the floppy disks with him and started my journey around North Sydney.

Knowing that I couldn’t use my train ticket and travel to another station I came across the idea of looking for places that could print my artwork when I came across ‘Computech Printing’.  Walking in I showed them my CD artwork.  I was told that they couldn’t do what I had asked, but they gave me reference to another place up the street.

Traveling up the street to a place called ‘Dashing Printing’ they also couldn’t do what I asked but gave me very good reference of three printers just a street away.  Entering the first, my troubles were over, as they told me I could do it.  Knowing I wouldn’t get a dream price, the printer there was one of two, the Zycon Printer.  The other place that had the Zycon Printer was ‘Print Central’ in Parramatta.

After some careful collaborating about ideas for my project, I was informed that the price was around $190.  After advising them that I had a better deal at ‘Print Central’ they lowered it to the absolute minimum $130.  Now we were talking.  So I might come here for my printing.

The similarity between both these printing shops is that they know what they were talking about.  That’s because they have the big guns and know how to use them.  Every question I threw at them about quality, DPI or graphic contrast, they had an answer or something to say.

Tweaking Artwork At CD Rom Services

Coming out of ‘Tecno Print’ I headed towards ‘CD ROM Services’ as it was almost time now.  Walking into the room I noticed the dude starting work on my artwork.  Thinking that they had a CD slot printer where you place the CD into a CD ROM, I was wrong.  Instead, he used an inkjet printer with a special A4 sliding tray.

This guy didn’t know much about computer artwork.  Realizing that he had Adobe PhotoShop on his computer, I thought I would give it a go.  Besides, this guy was busy somewhere else.  If I didn’t take over the reigns it would have been a longer day than what it was… a long day.

Changing diameters and then increasing the DPI, we started printing out.  But because he didn’t have a palette for this work, it never centered.  Eradicating that problem, I only placed my CD into the tray because it had been an hour and I just wanted to get out of there.

Besides being too bright and wet, the job was alright.  Placing it onto the CD, it kind of fits with the color coordination.  Regardless, I had to pay $20 for setup and $5 for the printing.  That doesn’t sound at all fair but because they were so smug and nice I couldn’t put my foot in.  That completely drained me of all my funds as I headed for the station.

Get In Touch With Frank

Being 5:15pm, everyone was coming home from work.  The train was crowded on the way to Central.  I was going to catch the train that I was on to Burwood and then call Frank, but something told me that I should jump off at Central.

Standing on the platforms at Central I jumped to the nearest phone and dialed Frank’s old number.  Luckily he answered the phone.

Being 5:30pm now I said, “Hi Frank.  It is Toni.  I used to work for you.  Are you still open?”

“Toni.  Yes we are open.  How are you,” he sounded surprised to hear my voice.

“Good.  I need to get my tax return for this year done.  I am on my way to Burwood now.  Would you be available later to do my tax return if I came to Ashfield?”

I told him the regards of my visit.

“Oh.  I have moved office.  I work from Pyrmont now,” Frank informed.

He tried giving me the address but I had no pen.

“I will visit you on Friday,” I told Frank.

But I might end up traveling to Pyrmont on Monday instead.

Walk Home On An Empty Stomach

Jumping onto the next train to Campbelltown via East Hills it was also crowded.  I didn’t find myself a seat until we reached Padstow.  Usually I don’t get a seat at all due to the congregation, but thwarting the system, I was lucky.

Reaching Campbelltown, I had the option of buying some food and walking home or calling my dad.  Because I hadn’t eaten a thing since the half of a meat pie in the morning and I was feeling too proud to call my dad, I decided to walk.  Buying a spring roll, I enjoyed that as much as I could to relieve the emptiness in my stomach.

Play Need For Speed On PC

Now, after a two-hour break from typing in my computer, I just felt like I needed to occupy my mind with something else.  Rather than writing a later date for my diary entry, I will just say the time is now 2:20am.

For the past two hours I’ve just been playing ‘Need For Speed’ on my computer.

Need For Speed 2

Now that the tension of typing is out of my fingers I can concentrate more.

Watching David Letterman Skits

Right now I’m watching David Letterman.  Because you’re missing out on all of the action, let me just tell you of the gag they are playing.  In their temperature up in America it is 95 degrees.  They place an icicle and a popsicle turned upside down on rods.  Biff (one of the stage managers) is timing which one will start melting first.  The lame speed music comes on.  There they are for two minutes of lame commercial-free air show, with a crowd of 100 outside watching two ice cream cones.  Funny, but ironically, sad.
