Keith Invites Me To Liverpool

The days are becoming so full of eventfulness that it is hard to have a full mind about it all but I’ll try my best for today.

This morning began for me at 9am when surprisingly I received a call from Keith.

“What are you doing today,” he asked.

I replied in a perplexed tongue.

He beckoned, “Do you want to come to Liverpool with me?”

Still in a sleeping mood, I was about to say no, but he rearranged his question so that he would just head for Liverpool and have me call later.

Diane Gerrard Temping Agency Phones

Within half an hour I received another unexpected call.  This time it was from Diane Gerrard, my temping agency.  Funny it is how the agencies don’t call for such a long time.  Then in one big heap they dump all their bidding onto you.

Diane was the person to speak to me.

“How did you go with your interview for HIH Insurance,” she firstly asked.

Then she asked if I wanted to do one day’s work of reception.  Basically she wanted me to jump out of bed and do half a day of reception.  I declined her kind offer because it would have all been too sudden and reception wasn’t my thing.

With my answer, Diane wished me luck.

“Good luck with your interview at HIH Insurance.  I will ring the employer and call you back later in the afternoon with their response.”

Securing A Job With HIH Insurance

For the next hour my sleep was unscathed, as I finally decided to jump out of bed at 10:30am.

With 11:30am arriving in my uninhibited day, I received another call from Diane Gerrard Temping Agency again.  Finally, I received the news I was waiting to hear.  The job at HIH Insurance was mine.

Diane started by saying “How badly do you want the job with HIH Insurance?”

I growled out, “Really bad!”

She laughed, “Well, the job’s all yours!”

This was music to my one and a half year silent ears.

Advising me of the time that I was starting work for HIH Insurance and the day (which is Monday 8:45am), she explained a couple more details.  Then quick as jets, she was off the phone.

I feel that there was plenty we didn’t touch upon, like, “Make sure you bring your bank details on Monday as well as your tax file number.”   But no such mention was made.  Therefore, I’ll have to take along those details as well as my superannuation details with me to HIH Insurance on Monday.

HIH Insurance Spurs A New Career Move

With this news of a new career with HIH Insurance in my mind, I was humble and noble in body, but in my mind I was jumping around in delight.  Highly exultant I started thinking about what clothes I was going to purchase with the money I would receive on Monday.

Therefore, I called David Jones in the city.  Reading through FHM for some fashion tips I tried finding out where to purchase Kenzo fashion.   The Fashion Consultant for FHM called me back within a couple of minutes, as we discussed the Kenzo advertisement.  I believe that this designer label is going to be my next favorite when it finally comes out in Sydney.

Ringing Keith And Shawn

While speaking to the Fashion Consultant for FHM, Keith gave me a call on the other line.  This is when he actually thought I was speaking to Lyssa, but as I advised him of my actions.  I told him I would call back.

While still on the phone I was called by Shawn who wanted me to give Keith a call.  When all was done I rendered that task.

Keith had just arrived home from a trip to Liverpool and then to the Golf Club, where he played the poker machines with his mum.  The time was near 1pm.  Keith along with Shawn just wanted to kill a couple of hours in the day.

“Do you want to head up to the Catholic Club to shoot some pool,” Keith suggested.

As I wasn’t too particular, I agreed to that end result.

While waiting for Keith to arrive I chucked on my Industrial Hound Dog pants as well as the white hugging shirt from Hound Dog for some upper-class difference.

Visiting Centrelink For Concession Card Inquiry

Within twenty minutes Keith picked me up.  Although him and Shawn were more casually dressed, there was no contrast in opinion.

With the thought of collecting a concession card for myself, we headed up to Centrelink so I could inquire about it.

On the way we bumped into Simon who was on Queen Street.  Stopping next to him, we asked him where to get concession cards, since he has done it before.  With his advice we told him to meet us at the Catholic Club.

Learning About HIH Insurance Job Success

Heading to Centrelink as this was where I was supposed to inquire about a referral for a concession card, we parked out near the front entrance.

They both now knew that I had a job lined up with HIH Insurance on Monday, as Shawn showed me a cut out article from The Advertiser newspaper with a position for Telstra.  Shawn told me he was going to go for the position, which paid a great deal of money for a Telemarketing type position.  It was a rather large advertisement.

I thought that Keith showed his true colors in caring only for himself when he uttered to Shawn, “Yeah.  I might go for that job as well, but you can ring first.”

Girl In Centrelink Asks About My Brother

Stepping out of the car and towards Centrelink, I waited in line to receive my referral.  Keith and Shawn used the free phone in Centrelink to make an inquiry to the Telstra position.

Speaking to a lady I know quite a bit down there, she asked how my brother was doing and where he was, because she no longer sees him around.  To me, it was sounding like she knew his drugged up side too well.  Obviously, if he went to Centrelink all the time with his drugged up friends, it would show.

“You’re not like him at all are you,” she asked.

Agreeing, I knew I was leagues away from his bad habits and grubby character.

With my referral all finished we jumped back in the car and headed to the pink building turned yellow just off the top of Queen Street, where you wait for taxis.  However, they only served concession cards before noon.  Thursday the people in the building didn’t serve them at all.  So I’m forced to head there tomorrow.

If a concession card doesn’t happen, I’ll be buggered on Monday morning for a bus fare.  Basically, I’ll have no chance at all of getting one in the future because I will be too busy at work every day.

Protesting No Hat Rules At The Catholic Club

Heading straight up to the Catholic Club we parked the car in the top area of the parking lot.  With a grudge held against the bouncers for having to take my hat off, we walked to the entrance.

I think the rule to take my hat off was stupid.  The reason I was so resentful of it was because I had teased and ruined my hair at home before leaving the house.  I tried rubbing the waxing gel through my long hair, the obsolete one I never use.  Well, it didn’t do any wonders for my hair and it was so shit that only a hat would do me justice.  However, I took my hat off once inside but resented having my hat off because I knew I would have looked atrocious.

Constantly I had to keep flicking my long hair back so it would look half decent.  Despite the urges to clap on my hat, I relented.

Shawn, Keith and Simon all told me when we were leaving that my hair looked funny.

In Shawn’s depiction, it was all clumped up with gel at the top, and then untouched and straight at the back.

Made To Sign The Visitor Register Twice

Rushing my signing in of the books when arriving at the Catholic Club, I didn’t think they would cause a fuss over my initializing the address and my name.  However, as we started to play our free games of snooker between the three of us, I was approached by the guy from the front reception.  Leaning across the pool table right next to me, he stood silent for a second as he looked at me.

“Is there anything wrong,” I uttered the first words.

He questioned me about my full name.  Then he told me I had to fill out the books properly.  Therefore, I headed out to the front with him again, scruffy looking in the hair and all.

“I’m sorry mate,” I kept atoning, making up bullshit like “It’s my first time here.”

Playing Pool With The Boys

When all the dramas were over, I headed back to play a crappy hand at pool.  The three of us played for ourselves in the first game.  If it wasn’t for them hitting the white ball in and scoring me automatic points, I wouldn’t have had a score at all.  However, despite my sinking only one red ball and completely missing all the balls with misguided pokes with my shortened stick, my score was high, yet, still third.

Keith or Shawn weren’t faring too much better than me.  If I could hit the balls straight and with more than one angle and one strength, then I would have stood a better chance.

This bids me to ask myself, “How did I ever win against Ralf?”

Simon Too Late To Play Pool

Simon turned up near the end of our first game.  I invited him to join in as we finished off, but as he picked up a cue, Keith told him to wait.  Funny, when our one game was over, it was time to head out of there.  Simon came for nothing.

When heading back to Keith’s car we found that Simon had parked his parent’s car (which he now drives because his car broke down again) right next to Keith.  Good eyes.

“Do you both want to head to Bình’s shop or go home now,” Keith asked.

Having nothing else to do, I didn’t think heading up to see Bình would be too much of a drama.
