In Green Meadows With Penelope – Mad Chaos: July 7, 1998

Lyssa was sad once again tonight while we were on the phone.  It was a busy day so let me just start from the beginning.

Last night I didn’t end up sleeping until 3am because I was watching television or writing in my Diary.  Setting my alarm for 9:30am I knew Penelope was coming over so I went to sleep.

Penelope Picks Me Up

This morning, I woke up at 9:30am in the morning to the alarm.  Not taking much notice, I did gather that Penelope would be roaring on over soon.  Drifting off to sleep once again, half an hour eventuated and out of my slumber, I heard Ali’s car.  Thinking Penelope would turn the engine off and walk up to the door, I was sadly mistaken and had to jump out of bed.

Walking to the front door, I opened up.  Having dressed in my Adidas pants, bare chest, I signaled to Penelope that I wasn’t ready.

Chucking some clothes on I grabbed my wallet and then headed for Penelope’s car.  Still with the engine running I jumped in the car and greeted Penelope.  Having troubles with the carburetor, Penelope didn’t want to turn the engine off because it had troubles starting.

Visiting The Car Mechanic

Heading off to Campbelltown with very bad morning breath, we stopped off at the new ‘Chicken In A Box’ where I ordered some food over the echoing sounds of Ali’s exhaust.  Vibrating the plastic bag, I hurried back outside where Penelope was parked.  Then we headed for the Garage.

Not having that much trouble finding the place, we parked the car where we thought was the entry.  Jumping out of the car I talked to a guy who appeared to look like one of the blokes from yesterday.

“We are here to fix the carburetor on the Celica.  There was a guy with a beard yesterday that we were talking to.  He referred us to this place,” I explained.

“You are probably talking about that car mechanic in the building behind us,” he pointed to the exact same set of buildings behind his.

Looking into the garage, I noticed that pictures of cars weren’t scattered along the walls so I knew I had the wrong place.

Jumping back into the car Penelope was saying “Good one Tony” as we headed next door, to an exact duplicate of the cheap ass buildings.

Having Lunch With Penelope

Now in the right garage, I talked to the guy who is supposed to fix the car.  Eating my food, Penelope and I both knew he would be a while, so we drove up to Woodbine Shops and bought some more food to eat.

There Penelope and I sat, sharing my burger with her and eating a bunch of pumpkin pieces, which are growing on my appetite.

Heading back after twenty minutes, Penelope bought a magazine for the time we had to wait.  Then we headed back.

Sitting In A Green Meadow

Parking the car in front of his garage he gave us an hour and a half.  With that time, Penelope walked up the secluded street nearing the back of the new estate, which is situated on Blaxland Road.  Finding a patch of bindi-free, dry grass some distance from the isolated road, we sat down.

In the fairly humid day, Penelope began reading her magazine as I had some more to drink.  Penelope was fairly dressed, more than usual.  Her excuse was that Ali was making her look more like a woman so she dressed in her denim skirt and a shirt with a knitted jumper on top.  Seated on the grass, we started working on the crossword puzzle together.  Then when we were out of ideas with that one, we started on a different puzzle.

As time passed, Lyssa called, early from College, Penelope’s mum called and Ali called.

For an hour and a bit, Penelope and I sat far down the field of grass conversing and working on crossword puzzles in the magazine.  You could say that this time could have been the anticipation of our lust if ever there was one, but looking at Penelope that day, I could say there would never be that opportunity.  I would never let it.

Penelope and I lay down to read the Horoscopes.  Then when we thought it was time, we jumped up and headed back to check on the car.

Drive To Lyssa’s House

When we arrived, the car was done but talking with him for a couple of minutes, we realized he didn’t do that much to the car.  Charging Penelope $30 instead of $100, we knew something dodgy was going on.

Driving the car back to Lyssa’s house where she wanted to meet, the car kept backfiring, more than it used to.  This meant the mechanic fucked the car up more than usual, surprise, surprise.

Barely making the distance to Lyssa’s house, Penelope and I had seen flames leaping out of the Webber on some occasions.

Lyssa Has A New College Friend

Reaching Lyssa’s house we jumped out.  I was the first to walk in.  Greeting Lyssa I walked to the bathroom because it was needed.  Penelope and Lyssa walked into the kitchen.  Then I came out soon after.

Lyssa showed me some pictures that she had made at Timezone where a photo is taken on a very small sticker.  Sixteen copies are made as little stickers.  On this photo was her friend Carol and whoever that girl is that is sixteen years old, her young friend with the green eyes at College.  You see, while Lyssa was jigging they went and got all this done.  This is the time when Lyssa noted to me that I might have known her through Jewell.

Some important facts I learnt today which play some significant role in this whole drama.  While Lyssa was at College today, I learnt of a new friend of hers.  Her name was Carol and this is the girl who supposedly knew Ali and Imad and they called her a bitch.  Well, as Lyssa was talking to her today while they jigged the ending period of College, Lyssa got to know more about her life.

Well, as it turns out, Lyssa and Carol started talking about whom Carol knew.  Lyssa was curious to think she knew the ‘Goon Girls’ or was even one of them, but she heckled at the mention.  Rather, Carol is a friend with Jewell, Berenice, Zola, Kofi and the rest of them.  What’s more, Carol used to hang out at the back of Pizza Hut a year and a half ago just as I was going out with Jewell.  What’s more, Carol has been to my house once before with Jewell.  I honestly can’t remember that day but will bet it’s in my Diary somewhere.

This damned Diary, it has my whole life’s happenings in detail and I can’t escape it.

Carol was ecstatic how she thought Lyssa knew all the others but Lyssa kept mentioning she wasn’t friends.  I’m not sure if Lyssa was being sneaky or not but ‘Snoopy’ Lyssa interrogated Carol for more answers.  Carol even mentioned that Berenice lives in Raby and Jewell lives across the street and a house across.

“Oh that Tony, he used to go out with Jewell.  Wow are you going out with him now,” is what Carol mentioned when all was revealed.

So, it is a small world we live in and a world kept.

Thinking Carol would now probably tell Jewell of her endeavors, it doesn’t really bother me what happens.  I just want to rest.  Besides, Jewell is on her holiday so she can’t be bothered.  Lyssa has reason to believe that Jewell and I have something going on.  Give Lyssa some credit, she is remarkably smarter than everyone gives her credit.  She works things out but is being unobtrusively quiet about it.

Lyssa remarked, “Now you don’t have to tell me when you call Jewell anymore.  You both have a chance now.”

That made me sad knowing it was true.  I was somewhat discouraged and ashamed of myself.

How could I do this to Lyssa?

Why can’t I tell her the truth, because the truth is too painful, or because it will hurt?

Lyssa deserves the truth, but she also deserves to be shielded from my inability to suppress my mind and the fantasies within.

Buy Singlets At The Bonds Store

Jumping back in the car, we headed for the Bonds store where it was time for me to buy quality, cheap shirts.  Walking into the store, the girls were tied up in girly things.  I walked for the shirts.  Looking around I found an assortment of colors.

Asking for Lyssa and Penelope’s assistance, Lyssa didn’t want to help.  She was being stubborn.  In truth, Lyssa was just oppressive knowing she would probably be helping me pick clothes but never see them, or rather, see that I look good in them but never be able to comment.

Buying my clothes made Lyssa sad, but I asked Penelope to convince her and in they came.  Looking through some colors I picked a shirt that Lyssa liked and seven other shirts that tickled my fancy.  Then I headed to the register.  The wait was long because the attendant was taking too much time, slow bitch.  Anyway, the eight shirts were only $4 each, cheap as chips I say.

Penelope waited in the car while Lyssa and I were waiting to be served.  Lyssa kept a fair amount of distance from me.

“Come closer,” I asked her.

“I don’t want to,” Lyssa said.

“Come on, come closer,” I kept hassling her.

When she stepped closer I could see she was upset.

“Come on, give me a hug,” I asked her.

Let alone, I needed a hug.

“I don’t want to hug because… because if I do, I will get upset and never want to let go,” Lyssa confessed.

“Okay.  Give me five then,” I asked instead

She slapped hands with me.  This was a bit tragic, but Lyssa told me it would take her at least a week to cope with hugging me once again.

Driving me back to my house, Penelope thanked me for her help.  Then I waved goodbye to Lyssa, no kiss like I usually do.

Cantering up my driveway and in my house, I tried on a couple of shirts and have now picked out some favorites.  All the shirts are fairly good quality but a dark purple shirt really suits me.

After a couple of minutes on the computer and watching some television I lay in bed thinking I was bored.  Not having Lyssa around made me feel lonely.  Not feeling like doing anything else, I lay to sleep for an hour and a half.
