Auntie Mira Phones
I woke up at 8:30am in the morning today when the phone rang. It was my Auntie Mira. She was coming over to see my parents.
Once I hung up, I slept until 10:30am. Auntie Mira had already arrived to our house. I walked upstairs to talk to her. Then I had something to eat, and prepared to leave home.
Visiting CES
I walked from Bradbury to Campbelltown CES.
Frank wanted me to find more information about the Jobstart subsidy available for the junior accounts clerk job he offered.
In CES I asked about the subsidy.
Then I came to a payphone outside to ring Frank Hou with the details.
I visited the CES office again. The CES officer rang Frank up a second time. She appointed me an interview with Frank today at 3:00pm.
The time was midday. I had three hours to prepare.
I walked back home from Campbelltown.
With my hair slicked back but not tied up, I dressed in my button-up white shirt, black Keppers, and black Dunlops.
Then I had my dad drive me back into Campbelltown.
Job Interview Preparation
In Campbelltown I photocopied my resume a few times so I would have copies to give to Frank.
Then I headed for Campbelltown station.
A train took me from Campbelltown to Ashfield.
Frank Hou’s accounting business wasn’t far from Ashfield station.
Frank was actually a nice person.
Interviewed By Frank Hou
During the interview with Frank Hou, he introduced me to the nice people in his office.
Then Frank and I talked for a long time about the junior accounting clerk job.
There were many features of the job that Frank talked about. I would be doing a various amount of clerical tasks, including going to the city or other places twice a week or less to deliver documents.
I will be getting $240 dollars before tax at the job.
The hours are very flexible. If I were late I could still turn up to work and be paid regardless, as if I was there the whole day.
Passing Frank’s Test
“Ring me when you arrive home. I can let you know if the job is yours,” Frank told me. I think it was a test to see how long it would take for me to travel the distance, as well as a test of my commitment to work.
I rang Frank up.
“You are in luck. The job is yours. Congratulations. Be here tomorrow by ten o’ clock. You can start working full-time from tomorrow. You finish at half past five.” Frank told me.
The news was so sudden. Tomorrow after work I have to make it to gridiron training. I will have to talk to Lucas to see what the plan will be for that.
Now I am going to relax until 12:00am midnight. Then I will prepare to sleep so that I can wake up at 7:00am tomorrow morning.
